This week at Selsdon Primary School, our pupils are taking part in our exciting Maths Enterprise Project, a whole-school initiative that brings mathematics to life through real-world business experiences.
Throughout the week, each class has been challenged to create and run their own mini-business using a £50 start-up budget. Pupils will be working collaboratively to research, design, budget, market and produce a range of products that they will sell to the school community.
The project has been designed to help children develop:
- Financial literacy and money management skills
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
- Teamwork and communication
- Creativity and innovation
- Confidence and resilience
- Real-life mathematical application
Children have taken on a variety of business roles, including managers, designers, advertisers, sales teams and accountants. They will been calculating costs, analysing market research, setting prices, predicting profits and evaluating risks, all while having great fun!
Enterprise Market – Friday 19th June from 3.00pm
We would like to warmly invite all parents, carers and family members to visit our Enterprise Market on Friday 19th June at the end of the school day. This will take place on the main playground of the school.
Our pupils will be selling a fantastic range of products that they have designed and created themselves, including crafts, games, gifts, snacks and much more. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the children’s hard work while supporting their entrepreneurial efforts.
Any profit made by each class will remain with that class, and the children will decide how to spend their earnings. Possible ideas include purchasing wet play equipment, organising a class picnic, buying new reading books, enjoying an end-of-term treat, or contributing towards future school trips.
We hope you will be able to join us and support our young entrepreneurs. Please bring some cash if possible and be prepared to discover some fantastic products created by our talented pupils!
We look forward to seeing you on Friday and celebrating a week of creativity, teamwork and mathematical learning.
