This week, our school was transformed into a vibrant gallery as we celebrated National Art Day—a whole-school event dedicated to creativity, expression, and the joy of art.
Throughout the day, every year group explored the work of a different artist, developing their skills in drawing and painting while creating both collaborative and individual pieces.
A Journey Through Art Across the School
Our youngest learners in Reception & Nursery explored the colourful world of Wassily Kandinsky, experimenting with shapes and colour. Their classrooms were full of bright circles, prints and playful mark-making.

In Key Stage 1, children built on these foundations. Year 1 and 2 pupils were inspired by Joan Miró, focusing on line and shape, while exploring primary colours to create bold, abstract artwork.

Year 3 stepped into the world of Pop Art with Andy Warhol, using repetition and vibrant colours to design their own striking soup can artwork.
Year 4 explored movement and pattern through the iconic work of Katsushika Hokusai, recreating The Great Wave using their own creative colour palettes.

Year 5 learned about Day of the Dead, creating intricate, symmetrical sugar skull designs inspired by this important Mexican tradition. Their work reflected both creativity and respect for cultural celebration.

Year 6 studied Frida Kahlo, creating powerful self-portraits that included symbolism to represent their identity. Their final pieces were thoughtful, expressive and truly unique.

We are incredibly proud of the effort, enthusiasm and creativity shown by all our pupils. It was a truly inspiring day and a wonderful celebration of art across our school!
