RAMADAN MUBARAK

Celebrating the Start of Ramadan at Selsdon Primary School

As we welcome the holy month of Ramadan, we take this opportunity to celebrate and learn about this special time observed by many in our school community. Ramadan is a time of reflection, kindness, and togetherness, and at Selsdon Primary School, we embrace these values every day.

What is Ramadan? Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered the holiest month for Muslims around the world. During this time, many Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, focusing on prayer, generosity, and gratitude. It is a time to think of others, help those in need, and strengthen bonds with family and friends.

How We Celebrate at School At Selsdon Primary School, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment where everyone feels valued. During Ramadan, we will be:

  • Learning about Ramadan in various subjects like RE and PSHE.
  • Encouraging acts of kindness and generosity in our daily school life.
  • Providing a quiet space for reflection for those who may be fasting. Our school has allocated a room where children and staff can use to pray.
  • Sharing stories and experiences from those in our community who observe Ramadan.

A Message of Kindness and Understanding Whether you are observing Ramadan or not, this is a wonderful time to show kindness, understanding, and support for one another. We encourage all our pupils to learn about different cultures and traditions, helping to make our school a place where everyone feels included.

To all those observing, we wish you a blessed and peaceful Ramadan! Ramadan Mubarak!
