Medication Procedures at School

Dear families,

We would like to remind you of our school’s guidelines for administering medication to students during school hours.

If your child needs to take medication while at school, please note the following:

  1. Medication Authorisation: A completed and signed medication authorisation form is required. This form must be filled out by a parent/carer. Forms are available at the school office.
  2. Prescription Medication: Medication must be in its original prescription container with the pharmacy label, which should include the child’s name, medication name, dosage, and administration instructions. Please provide only the amount of medication needed for school hours.
  3. Over-the-Counter Medication: Over-the-counter medications also require a signed authorisation form and must be provided in the original packaging.
  4. Medication Drop-off: Parents/carers must bring the medication to the school office and not send it with the pupil.
  5. Self-Administration: If your child is allowed to self-administer certain medications (e.g., inhalers, EpiPens), please ensure this is clearly stated on the authorisation form.
  6. Collection of Medication from school: Parents/carers must collect the medication from the office. Medication will not be sent home with the child.

These guidelines are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils. We appreciate your cooperation in following these procedures. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
