It’s a new year, and we are getting going with our sports competitions this year!
Next week is the first cross-country competition, with the Year 5 and 6s kicking off the racing. Check out the picture above where you can see some Year 5s from last year, post-race!
This year, the race is open to every year group from Year 1 – Year 6, with everyone who qualifies getting a chance to attend the Croydon race.
As some of you will remember from last year, we have a set of open trials so everybody has a chance to try out to go to this competition. The trials will be a route around the school site for each year group, with the first 7 girls and first 7 boys in each year group given a special ticket and getting an invite to the Croydon race.
This year, cross country trials will be on Friday (4th October 2019)! In preparation for the competitions on either the 9th October or 15th October, depending on which year group.
If you want to take part in the trials, all you need to do is bring your PE kit in on Friday! Your year group will have a time slot and your teacher will ask who wants to have a shot at representing the school!
Remember, we’re all sportspeople here with lots of respect for each other, so we will be cheering on and supporting anybody on who gives it a try, it doesn’t matter if you’ve never run before or you’re one of last year’s winners, it’s a great opportunity for everyone!
