Staying Safe in the Snow

We will do everything we can to remain open when is snows. We will do everything we can to make sure that everyone remains safe.

Snowfall Overnight

I event of heavy snowfall, where the school is unable to guarantee a full capacity of staff, a decision will be taken as to whether to close the school. Where no updates have been provided families should assume that the school is open as normal.

However, if a decision is made to close, this will be communicated to families and staff by 7:00am, if possible. A text message will be sent to everyone informing them of our decision. If we decide not to open, we will:

  • send you a text message
  • post on the school blog and post updates throughout the day
  • update the LGfL Open Check system – https://opencheck.atomwide.com

The above procedures include breakfast and all after school clubs.

Snowfall During the School Day

If there is heavy snowfall during the day, we will contact families via text message and the school blog to let you know if the school is closing earlier than usual and ask you to arrange for their child(ren) to be picked up as soon as possible.

The School Site

We will grit all of the main pathways. We ask that you stay on the gritted areas and keep you children with you, to prevent the risk of slipping and falling.

What to Wear to School

Children should wear a warm coat, a scarf, hat and gloves to school, as they will be allowed to go outside during the school day.

Please make sure that your child’s footwear is safe to wear in the snow and ice. They can wear boots or trainers to school whilst there is snow and ice on the ground.

We have lots of spare children’s coats in school ready to go to a good home. So if you would like one, please speak to your class teacher or a member of the leadership team.

Best wishes
