Attendance Matters!

With the new term starting, here are a few reminders about attendance.

The Registers are taken at 8.55am. Children should be in class and ready to start learning by that time. Arriving after 8.55am will result in a Late mark. Should your child arrive in school after 9.25am, they will be marked in for safety reasons, but it is counted as an unauthorised absence.

School expects all children to achieve attendance of 96% or better, which is equivalent to no more than 7 days absent in a school year. School term dates are provided on the school website and are also available from the school office. Children should not be taken out of school during term time. If you wish to apply for special leave for exceptional circumstances, then written applications must be made to the Head of School in advance. You may obtain a special leave request form from the office.

Please try to avoid taking your child out of school for routine medical appointments. We realise that this is not always possible, so if your child has a medical appointment during the school day, please ensure you provide the office with documentary evidence, such as an appointment card or letter, to support the absence.

If your child is too unwell to attend school, please always call the school office in the morning to inform us.

Please refer to the full Attendance and Punctuality Policy on the school website under About Us/School Policies and Forms.

Well done to last week’s best attending classes: Dove Class (year 2) with 99.1%; Hawk Class (year 6) with 97.9% and Deer Class (year 3) with 96.9%.
