Super Swimmers!

Yesterday was a super day for the Selsdon swim team! 11 Selsdon swimmers travelled to South Norwood Leisure Centre for the Croydon Schools Swimming Gala, and it was the most successful gala Selsdon have ever had!

All of our swimmers swam fantastically and it’s very hard to choose a standout swimmer, but Skye from Year 4 wins our swimmer of the day title! Whilst Skye narrowly missed out on winning her heats, she put in an enormous amount of effort and swam in four events, including the ‘open’ butterfly race, where she was up against Year 5 and 6 swimmers. Another special mention goes to Patrick and Gianmarco, also from Year 4, who won their freestyle (front crawl) heats by a healthy margin. Emma and Adam from Year 6 also stormed their individual races, with Adam winning his freestyle heat and Emma winning her breast stroke heat.

Another particular highlight was the boys 4×1 freestyle relay heat, where most of the race was a dead heat between the Selsdon and Heavers Farm boys. Selsdon eventually pipped Heavers Farm for the win, which was a great race to watch!

Well done to everybody that competed and represented Selsdon. The children represented Selsdon brilliantly and showed impeccable behaviour and fantastic sportsmanship. We’re very very proud!
