It’s been a sporty few weeks here at Selsdon Primary (although that doesn’t mean we haven’t been working hard in class as well), with our teams taking part in loads of different winter sports competitions.
Our football team have had a successful run this term, with three wins in a row and two clean sheets (thanks to our goalkeeping star, Harry), the most recent being our match against Castle Hill Primary School on 3rd November.
Our girls football team were also spectacular when they were up against a number of schools at Forestdale, which you can now see on the FA website here. They’re currently ranked 3rd overall in their league, but with the next one coming up in the next few weeks, we’ll be sure to improve our position!
In other sports, we’ve had teams from Year 4 and Year 5/6 go to tag-rugby competitions to try their hand at this adaptation of a classic British game.
The Year 4 team did really well at the less-competitive festival they went to and really got to learn the ropes of the game.
Our Year 5 and 6 team did really well at the Croydon SSP qualifiers, given that many of the players had never played tag-rugby before.
After a tricky first couple of games, our captain Donnell really pulled the team together and Selsdon started to win their last few games. Selsdon placed 6th overall. We’re all really proud of their performance and their teamwork. Check out the pictures below:
