Last week was a sporty week for Selsdon Primary, with three different sporting competitions taking place!
First, Selsdon hosted a boys football match against Courtwood Primary on Tuesday, which SPS won 2-0!! So very well done boys, who have been working very hard in training, and well done to Mr Ming and his team of coaches in his after-school football club.
Then, on Wednesday, we had the Year 3 and 4 Tag Rugby Festival at Norbury Manor Primary School. This was a fantastic success, with Selsdon playing fantastically against a number of schools. Although there were no scores kept, it looked to me like Selsdon won all of their matches. Check out Mr Penrose’s snaps from this event below.
Finally, to end the week, the Year 6 girls football team took a trip to Heavers Farm for the first set of matches in the Croydon Girls Football League. The girls played phenomenally, given that they had only formed during the week, and hadn’t had as much practise as the boys. Whilst they were defeated by the hosts in their first match, they learned from this and staved off two other teams, managing to draw in their match with reigning champions Cypress Primary, which is quite the feat.
Well done to everyone that represented the school this week, as it really was a fantastic performance from everyone that took part.
We have an equally sporting couple of weeks coming up, with Year 5 & 6 Sportshall Athletics this Friday, Infant Sportshall Athletics next Wednesday, 25th and the second part of the Girls Football League next Friday, 27th. So let’s all wish good luck to everyone attending these!
