Headteacher’s Award

well doneExciting news!

We are just about to announce the children who have received their Headteacher’s Award and will be going on the special Headteacher’s Award trips.

We have sent out some letters already this week, however, there are a number of children very close to achieving their award and we have given Friday morning as the cut-off point for this award.

All children who receive their Headteacher’s Award badge during assembly this Friday will be invited to join us on our trips.

Children in Nursery will be going on a special trip, venue to be announced!

Children in Reception to Year 2 will be going to Kidspace in Croydon.

Children in Year 3 to Year 6 will be going to Bewl Water Country Park

We are looking for parent/carer helpers,  so if your child receives an invitation letter and you would like to come along too, please complete the slip at the bottom of the letter and return it to the school office as soon as you can. We will take up offers of help on a first come, first served basis.

Congratulations to all of the children who achieved this award, you are an excellent example to our whole school community.

We will post the list of children who achieved this award after Friday’s assembly.

  1. Ah i am so proud that my little one has acheived this award(no doubt she would have). So nice to have this little award system and treat at the end..

  2. Whilst I appreciated there has to be a cut off, I do think it slightly unfair that the nursery staff haven’t “had time” to update the children’s merits for the past couple of weeks. Meaning some children miss the opportunity as they only attend half the week. The children are working hard but the staff aren’t keeping to their side of the bargain.

  3. Thank you for this Lisa,

I have passed your comment on to Mrs. Parker who is in charge of Early Years. She will investigate this and get back to you.

    Best wishes

  4. I’ve only got 16 more until, my head teachers award miss papas so I. Really looking forward to getting it

  5. I to have have raised the issue via the reading record book with the nursery, whereby there were 2 weeks without any merit stamps in Daisy’s book. Daisy goes to nursery as an end of week child and without fail (unless she is unwell) we read everyday and she colours in her smiley faces and is now trying to write the book title herself. Daisy is most disappointed when there are no merit stamps and says “Mrs White hasn’t had time”. The written response returned was “apologies, there have been no issues with Daisy but we are preparing the children for reception and have explained to them that to get a merit is now more difficult”, However, my son attains a merit every week and he is in year 4 as he to reads every day. There seems to be no continuity.

  6. Hello Tracey,

Thank you for this. I will forward your message to Mrs. Parker who will investigate this for you and get back to you today.

    Best wishes

  7. Hello Susan,

Mrs Parker has kindly contacted me this afternoon whereby we have had a lengthy conversation regarding the whole concept of issuing merits. I did however ask if there could be a publication whereby the parents have a clear understanding of how a child can or will attain a merit.

    Thank you for your response.
